Being that Paris is one of the world’s major capital cities, many events are in constant rotation, attracting jet-setters, entrepreneurs, and many local Parisians. As a result we would like to spotlight these major events and local cultural activities that bring such a diverse group of people together into one beautiful and inspiring place (awww, Paris)!
Now through August 23, Paris Plages: It sounds a bit fou but each summer the banks of the Seine are transformed into artificial beaches between the bridges Pont Neuf and Pont de Sully and are open from 9 a.m. in the morning until midnight. Visitors can enjoy different activities, which include everything from a pop-up library and a Nile river themed exhibition hosted by the Louvre, but also can simply enjoy the sun and sand and take in the views of the Seine by walking along the pedestrian walk way.
Now through August 23, Cinema en Plein Air at Parc de La Villette: Nothing says summer like an outdoor movie! This annual summer activity takes place every Wednesday through Sunday at sunset with no charge unless you would like to rent a deck chair. Another opportunity to get out a picnic blanket, all movies are in original version with French subtitles (some in are even English for our non French speakers!). Interestingly enough, the featured films can be download and watched from their website. Movies this year include Beetle Juice, Moulin Rouge, Mon Oncle, The Shining, Shutter Island as well as many more French and international films!
-August 1 – Sept 13, Classique au Vert (classical music at Parc Floral): Yet another open air event held free for the public, only this one focuses on classical music and sets a perfect backdrop for such a festival among the ceramic works and beautiful blooming flowers.
-August 28-30, Rock-en-Seine: This end of summer festival is a staple in Paris and is the largest annual rock festival in France. This year it will be held the last weekend in August at the Domaine de Saint-Cloud Paris, which is located west of Paris easily accessible by metro line 10. The lineup includes acts such as John Butler Trio, Ben Howard, Interpol, and many more. Passes for 1 day or all 3 days are available on their website here.
-August 29-31, Baby Cool Paris: A Children’s and baby trade fair this international trade show highlights the entire childcare sector for professionals in the market.
-September 4-8, Maison et Objet Paris: Experiencing it’s 20th anniversary here in Paris this year, this lifestyle trade show is the key event which takes place for professionals meeting at crossroads of business and creativity.
-September 5-13, Paris Design Week: Scheduled to piggyback with the Maison et Objet Paris trade show, this event is for both professionals and the general public to discover the leading talents and showcases of design in Paris.
