‘April in Paris’ Walking Tours

We were recently contacted by April from April in Paris Tours, who kindly offered a free tour to the A La Carte Paris team. As much as we would have loved to participate, we thought we would pass on this kind gesture to one of our clients.

April in Paris Tours offer customized walking tours to places that aren’t featured in even the best Paris guidebooks. On a walking tour with April, you will experience Paris’ beauty and history from an insider’s perspective. All tours are tailor-made to fit your needs so they are a perfect option whether it be your first trip or one of many to Paris.

April decided to take one lucky A La Carte guest on the “off the beaten path” tour. This is her newest tour and includes some lesser known treasures that Paris offers.

“We started at Place de la République and made our way to Rue Montorgueil where we stopped at Storher for a famous Baba au Rhum and awed over the beautiful flowers and tasted some cheeses too! We continued through Les Halles and visited St. Eustache and marveled over the pipe organ. We had a wee sit down on Pont Neuf to taste the pastries and made our way into the islands. Normally the tour would end at Ile St Louis, where we cooled down with a Bertillion but I couldn’t say enough about the Marais so we ventured in with a stop at L’Etiquette Wine Bar, wandered through St. Paul Village and stopped in Rue des Rosiers for a falafel lunch. We then sat in Place des Vosges where I highlighted a map for Lynn, with the route we walked today as well as some of my favourite foodie hot spots. Then, I couldn’t resist, and I brought her through the secret red door into Hotel Sully before stopping for one last coffee! It was a wonderful time and the sun managed to pop out too! “

We chose our client, Lynn, to go on a walking tour with April. During Lynn’s visit to Paris over the months of April, May & June she stayed in three different A La Carte apartments: Eiffel Nest Studio, Eiffel Elegance and Orsay Studio. All three of these apartments are centrally located in the Eiffel Tower and Saint Germain area, which allowed Lynn easy access to all the main tourist attractions.

Hear what Lynn had to say about her experience with April :

“Oh my gosh I can’t say enough about how excellent it was today!  April is professional, knowledgable, well prepared, articulate and has a warm, welcoming and fun personality.  She delivers a multitude of historical and informative information without sounding mechanical or dry.  I felt instantly comfortable with her and can see where she would put multiple different personality types at ease.

She took me on a “off the beaten path” tour which was incredible.  I have been to Paris several times and was thrilled with the amount of the city we covered and the variety of the treasures we explored.  As all of her tours are personalized I feel that your guests would be able to have a very unique tour experience.  One that would be difficult to find with other companies that have larger groups, or “canned” tours which might not meet all of your clients wishes.

THANK YOU so much for the opportunity to spend this time with April.  I have done a fun run, volunteered for the Paris marathon, been to the Grand Steeplechase, been to Roland Garros and had several explorations in different arrondissements, ridden the velib, museums, concerts, been to the Bastille for Romeo and Juliet, etc etc and this day will be one of my favorite memories.

Thank you to Lynn and to April  – it definitely sounds like you had a great day exploring Paris with each other!

A little more about April…

Throughout the years, April has had the opportunity to visit the City of Lights as a tourist, having been captivated by everything Paris has to offer, in particular the rich history, delicious food, trendy fashion and the beautiful language. For the past two years, April has called Paris home, working there as a tour guide. Coming from the Niagara Region in Canada, but since then living a nomadic life for many years, she has always worked in tourism. Therefore it only came naturally to her to continue to pursue her passion in tourism by starting her own company. And alas, April in Paris Tours was born.

Thank you for this information. We have not made specific plans for our time in Paris wanting to enjoy life in the Marais district near the apartment. This looks really good. We will contact “April in Paris” and book one of her half-day walking tours. We are in the Marais Collection-Elegant Hotel de Ville from June 17-25, 2016.
